hey all, just wondering if anybody can give me some help on this one. basically my sister and her boyfriend have been renting for almost 3 years in the same house. her boyfriends job contract is now finished and her job is in jeopardy as the company she works for is about to go under. both of them have never claimed any benefits and always worked, paid taxes etc. however they are unsure if their landlord is registered to rent out their house and want to claim rent allowance, medical card and dole-is it possible to do this if the landlord is not registered? it is an awkward situation as the landlord is a family friend so she is worried about creating tension between them. i said they should go ahead and claim for what they are entitled to but they are nervous that it might backfire on them or the landlord.any help is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance!
