anyone bought a damaged uk car?

just wondering has anyone bought a damaged uk car, recorded damage?

i sold one, which didnt know was damaged, as im a woman i dont know how to check if a car has been painted or not but i sold it, had a v963 certificate for it to export it, which i couldnt afford so reason why sold it, the man who bought it went to pay vrt last week only for them to tell him they need a v5(logbook) and there was info missing on that cert, only way to get logbook is by getting a vic check done in NI to ensure car is roadworthy after accident but if you dont do that you just use the cert to export the car in ireland.

But i know someone who used the same cert to vrt a car, so why arnt they accepting this one? also the man who bought it stated if he doesnt get the right form that he'll have to take the car back to me, he was given the cert with the car, can he do it as its private sale and he got the car for next to near nothing

    any help greatly appreciated please.

you CAN reregister a car with just the export cert.tell him to Go back to NCTS and tell them what they told him is rubbish (or maybe its him having second thoughts? )

(your post is a littel muddled so i hope i read it right

Export cert is more than enough to register a vehicle here.

Exactly what i thought about using the cert for vrt.

he rang me asking me to ring dvla and get them to sort out mistakes on the cert, first of all i dont have the car details to ring and surely when he now has the car its up to him, if i just bought a uk car i would ring dvla myself not the owner i bought of  he knew what paper work was going with the car and if i didnt think that cert wasnt any good i would have got the right paper for vrt.

Someone has used the same cert to vrt their car.

he said there was mistakes on that cert, does vrt have a system to check the details of a uk car? i thought they just used the details on the paper.

    thanks for advice.

play hardball, although you may have a problem as you arent strictly allowed to sell a UK reg car here before VRT ing it.

OT - I always pondered what happens if one buys a stolen-recovered cat d in the UK and import into Ireland?

Does the car get a clean bill of health so to speak?
Do you get a reduced VRT payment?

    Just curious.:)

    Yes.

Nope. They are wise to that old rouse.

    Thanks.

The issue I saw was you could end up buying a cat d in Ireland without knowing it was a cat d?

Therefore paying full market for a car which was originally sold for less etc.

Im back again, so he has text me again about the certificate and saying that the vrt office said the v963 cert was only proof of import and nothing to do with vrt??

worst thing about it i know someone who has used this v963 to vrt a car, so this means that one vrt office accepts that form and one doesnt? does anyone know where you can get a number for the vrt offices? cheers

Tell him to go to the NCT office where this is actually processed.

OR tell him to pi$$ off as he bought the car in a private deal and has no comeback therefore he needs to stop annoying you

I told him to check the info on the cert against the info on the car i.e engine code chasis number etc, as i filled out the form to get the cert the details should be correct

really starting to annoy me now :mad: he knew the car had been painted so i dunno why hes looking for a logbook when the cert does the same thing.
