John Meyler, ex Cork hurler, ex Wexford hurling manager, current Kerry hurling manager. Son David with Sunderland FC.

Jimmy Barry Murphy's son Brian is a former Ireland U21 International and has been knocking around the lower leagues in England for the last 6 or 7 seasons.

Michael Donnellan, John Donnellan and Michael Donnellan have all captained Galway and afaik won AIs with them.

EDIT: Quick wikipedia search tells me they have >6 AI medals between them from 1925-2001. About Michael (grandfather) it just says he won AI medals with Galway in the 1920's and 30's, and he also had another son, Patrick, on that 3-in-a-row team that John captained. Some family!

I think you are missing the point, the thread is asking about excelling in other sports...great GAA family though.

Shane Lowry's father is Brendan Lowry and indeed does have an All-Ireland senior medal.

Conor O'Shea's father played for Kerry, I believe.

And Dick Spring played rugby for Ireland, and his father won a few All-Irelands for Kerry.

Not 100% on either of them but I have heard that.

Yes Conor O Shea's father Jerome won 2 All Irelands with Kerry in 1955 and 1958.

Dick Springs father Dan won All Irelands in 1939 and was captain in 1940. He's other son Arther won an All Ireland minor medal in the 60's and i think also played rugby. Dick also played hurling & football with Kerry
