Bye Bye UPC

I'm moving apartments in a few weeks and will be glad to wave goodbye to our UPC setup.

My problem is... I'm still within my year contract and I've only just seen their 30 day cancellation notice requirement.

If they charge me the €100 cancellation fee, I'd be better off sticking it out for the next few months.

I was thinking about leaving it set up for whoever moves in after me, but do they look for the box back at the end?

Would it be grand to just take the box with me, cancel after the year and say "oh by the way, the box is now at X address instead of Y" ?

I don't want to ring them up until I have a POA, so, anybody have any knowledge of this situation?

AFAIK you can tell UPC the new address, and they'll install it there. So there's no "Cancellation".

Yeah I saw that option alright, but I'm moving back in with the folks for two months and they already have a better UPC package, so no real gains to be made there. I could always keep paying for those two months and then move it into my next place.

Anyone know if there's any issue with leaving an open connection into my old place, if the new people want to sign up etc?

I saw someone the other week about UPC price increases, if they effect you it give to the option to break the contract with 30 days notice.

They may waive it if you explain you're moving to an address that already has UPC. Probably worth calling them to discuss your options. :)

What do the letters UPC stand for?
