Ok, during the long weekend I went for a 139 km cycle I opt to try out red bull for this cycle Since most of it was all hills something to give me an old push.

Is red bull bad if your cycling and under a lot of stress as people do while cycling

I have experimented with mixing Red Bull into my drinks at races. It didn't make me any less crap.

The high doses of caffeine and stimulants in it would raise your heart rate, and the sugar content would lead to a spike in your blood sugar level leading to a rapid drop off in Blood sugar levels after you consume the drink...

Stick to the likes of High5 tabs disolved in water which replaces lost minerals etc...

Outside of cycling, I used to do a lot of martial arts, and take a red bull prior to morning training. Didn't do me any harm, but a scare at the time suggests it might not be the best way forward, so I stopped. Mind you, I still take the odd bag of caffeine laced jellys, which could possibly do the same thing. Always used to take a red bull prior to training on mornings I had a hangover, and I dare say training on a hangover could probably kill you too. Life is short ;)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taurine

"Taurine, or 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid, is an organic acid. It is a major constituent of bile and can be found in the large intestine"

So that explains why Red Bull tastes like sick.

My understanding of the use of red bull is that its for getting lazy ass mother******s off the couch and moving. It does this by a stimulant hit which increases your heart rate etc etc which almost mimics ones feeling during exercise (if you know what I mean). That may be of use if your a lazy ass mother*****r who wont get off the couch but otherwise I am perfectly able to raise my own heart rate above what it should be and my body is quite good at converting natural sugars etc into energy without all the crap in drinks like redbull.
Mho dont drink crap like that while exercising as your body is reaching for nutrients to absorb and build with and will use what you give it.
Hence, you are what you eat, or in this case what you drink...
