I'd go for the 1.9tdi, less power but much more reliable.

I love when people say this. It really separates the people who try to be smart from them that actually are smart.

Unfortunately they both suffer the same injector woes, although they may now be covered under goodwill. There was a recent thread here about it.

They all use the same engines with minor differences in some models but all of the 2.0tdi engines, both PD and CR versions suffer injector problems with can very extremely expensive to repair if you can't get VAG to cover it.

I dont think the CR gives injector trouble afaik and I dont think the 1.9 does either.

As someone has pointed out, the 1.9TDI is more vocal and more tractor like but if you do not wish to have a large four figure sum on your doorstep for the 2.0TDI's fuel injectors I would have the 1.9 every time. The 1.9 should also have improved fuel economy too.

Also from what I have heard Corkie is right no problems with injectors from the CR engines at the moment.

CR is common rail and only started on the current model Audi and the Passats/Golfs from late 08 on.

It has to be a 1.9 imo,

The injector issue doesnt apply to the early 2.0 units >2006, these are bosch solenoid driven and similar to the 1.9. But there is a fault in the oil pump chain drive design on early engines that usually causes engine/turbo failure.
The later 2.0s are (modified) gear driven but even these are suffering failure of a hex shaft to the pump.
Add to that most of the 2.0s are running dpf's

A REAL Quattro or just an A4 with the body kit?

Post up a pic an let us know how expensive she was. I was looking for a 130bhp A4 quattro last year but thought they were too pricey so got an older Quattro 110bhp instead.

Must ask, are there any problems with the 2.7 and 3.0 TDi engines as well ?
