Last June I had to leave my job to go onto Illness Benefit (had to leave because i worked 3 months on 3 weeks off, i forget what type of job you call it but i couldn't stay on). I was on it for 5 months roughly and decide to apply for the STEA. I was in too much pain to get a job but thought if I worked from home I could deal with it as it came work around it. I checked with Citizens advice and the Social Welfare and they both said I could apply for BTEA the following year if I had been on this scheme. I have been applying and working towards a particular college course for 6 years. It is my dream career. I have now been offered this course but my local office are telling me I will not be able to get the BTEA. (I had hoped the business whould take off and this would carry on as I went to college but it is not a viable business and I earn no income from it)

I have asked citizen advice and the social welfare this question and I'm getting conflicting answers. The Citizen's advice say yes I should be entitled to go on the BTEA, The BTEA dept of the social welfare said the same though I would have to do it through my local office. My local office say I can't). I've been advised to talk to my jobs facilitator about it but she has been unhelpful in the past (a friends boyfriend deals with her too and is having a difficult time with her). I'm look for advice on whther I can apply for BTEA and how to talk to my local office about it since the staff seem to all think differently.

I'm sorry if this seems all over the place, I'm confused as to what to do. Any help would be much appreciated.
