NAS with direct access (not web UI)

Hi folks,

Can anyone recommend a decent NAS (preferably two drives) that has direct access? (ie. you can just map the drives rather than being forced through a ****ty web UI).

Have had a horrendous experience with a POS Netgear Stora ( :mad: ) and want to get this right.

I am currently using a qnap TS-212, (Only got it last week) and have no issues so far with it. have a look at their site for details - Link

What I like about it most is the expandability of the NAS using their qkpg system. However their mobile app leaves alot to be desired and is not great in my humble opinion.

Hey Tommychair,

And to confirm, you have the drive(s) mapped through my computer?

As in, you can copy and paste files off, store target directories etc. DIRECTLY and avoid the use of a customer UI?

edit: Just saw that there are compatibility issues with the Qnap and OSX Lion. So that's a no go.

Hi Quad_red

Yes it is mapped under my computer as any other mapped drive would be e.g my 2 work drives underneath.
However I have mapped these drives using the qnap utility rather than the standard windows method.
