While strictly not a classic thread, I just had to post this. I have a 1994 Nissan Sunny sitting in my front yard for the past five years with the clutch gone. Today, I had a notion to see if it would still start. Threw in a battery, fuel tank was half full when it was laid up five years ago. It started first go, no drama. just took about 5 seconds & then idled like a mouses heart. I was seriously impressed & I figured it might be seized (like the brakes). It started like I'd been using it every day. I was so shocked I just has to share it. My modern diesel probably wouldn't start after 2 weeks holidays !!

    Jap power!!
I'm not one bit surprised. The engine in one of my cars was left idle for 12 years in a car parked under trees. I hauled it out of the wreck, popped it in the other car, on with battery, new oil, juice and key and off it went as good as if it was never idle.

Jap power. Hard to beat it.

If you're looking for another good Nissan engine, I could be persuaded !!!!

the auld sunnys will do that alright. might want a fresh change of oil though even if you put some in.

Some of the old, simpler japanese yokes were great for that sort of thing.
Though that said i recently started up a ford granada that had been sitting a couple of years and has very bad old petrol, only took some fresh electricity being supplied to it

skyline at home in the garage, starts no bother every 6 months with a fresh battery, although I'm a little concerned about the long term affects of this..
