The two I would use a good bit are golfdublin.com and golfnow.ie. Two good sites with some great deals available.

Boards.ie golf forum used to be my first port of call for all things golf related, but lately I've been reluctant, nay hesitant to open the pages here as it has become increasingly over populated with third rate throlls and hopeless hackers doling out advice ( like it's going out of fashion) to each other in the worst case of the blind leading the blind that I've ever seen.
Other then that it's a great forum.

Couldn't have put it better myself

Check out Kevin markhams flickr. Its got lots of pictures of most of Irelands courses. He has a book and blog as well. Worth a look. He posts on here a bit too. Think rate my golf course is still going.

thats to be expected fella.... unless a rule is envoked whereby only those with a hcap of 4 or better are permitted to give advice to others.

obviously never going to happen. pie in the sky.

but theres nothing wrong with someone like myself and helpful others on here, who may know a thing or two about certain aspects of the game, giving advice to those seeking. while picking up tips from those who know more than i do about stuff that im crap at... for example... puring long irons.

anyhow, if the 'blind leading the blind' stopped there'd be fark all activity on this forum.

..and you eliteists, all 3 of you, would have to work very hard to keep this place from collecting a lot of dust and grinding to a halt.

if youve any interest in self preservation ... it would be wise to remember that: you need us, quite frankly, more than we need you.

Good point blackwaterfish. Whilst the vibe on this board has changed a lot, it's definitely not all bad. If you don't agree with something, you just don't read it or disregard. For a long time on here it seemed to have a valid opinion, on anything golf related, you had to be a category 1 golfer. Pathetic really.

Fairplay to the newbies I say. And well done to them getting the golf society up and running.

When you have 6 time major winners appearing on TV giving people golf tips that are scientifically inaccurate it becomes apparent that golf has never been anything other than the blind leading the blind.

People log on to a golf forum and actively discuss a sport that interested them. This has to be a good thing no matter what way you look at it.

Perfect response to this rubbish. The sooner people with such elitist views leave this forum, the richer it will be.

Seriously?? Definitely a troll, or just a muppet trying to sound clever but making no sense.

Nobody is denying anybody the right to discussion of any form but you have to admit the golf forum has gone seriously downhill in the last year. There used to be some hefty debate, sometimes amusing/annoying trolling, sometimes arguments, but needless to say the majority of what was being discussed was somewhat entertaining and informative.

Many longer term members have gone, others just browse by every now and again. Elitism doesn't belong anywhere and regardless of ability or handicap you are perfectly entitled to your opinion.

The repetition does my head in, many don't bother their arse to search for something before posting, many times it will have been discussed to death.

    My 2 cents worth

Sounds like it is time for you to move on (with your great old friends). All web sites have a natural plateau and then a fall off of interest.

How do you know that the newer members won't be as funny and as intellectual as it was in the good old days, give us a break.

And as for this constant accusation of trolling on here it would do your head in, I think certain people are jealous that they are not the center of the internet anymore.

Who the f**k are you to tell me or anyone else to move on?

Soft spot. You seem to tell everybody else what they should do. ;)

Internet warrior, I'll stick you on my ignore list rather than bore everyone with a childish argument.

    play nice guys!

As a newcomer to the forum I can give my thoughts...overall its pretty good.. I've found and lots of good information available. Just back playing golf after 5 year break and have found a number of the discussions very helpful.

We're also very lucky that there does seem to be an unusual number of highly expert members who seem to have the low down on everything from rules questions to cleaning clubs to why Johnny 24 handicap can't hit that fade with his timber shafted 1iron.... :)....you know who you are!

    Keep up the good work!

Sorry, boards, had a bad, sad day, will be back to myself after a serious time of contemplative thinking. A few white balls hit 300 yards could also cure me. Sometimes life is just too cruel and golf means nothing or maybe everything.
