    Hi,
I really enjoy alot of hillwalking and done climbs where there would be a good deal of scrambling, but am now interested in getting some basic introductory training in rock climbing. Does anyone know of any group/places where beginning courses are held for novice climbers, eg. beginning with the basics-ropes and knots etc?

Depends on where you live but most gyms with a climbing wall will have introductory courses.

I found that most of the outdoor centers are very pricey.

If you do a quick search for a climbing club near you, you should find a group open to beginners that will be more than happy to show you the ropes (see what i did there?!)

Everyone i know learned by watching others, the trad way!
