    Hi All,

I have taken up golf recently and have taken lessons and play as often as I can usually once or twice a week, I havent joined a golf club yet, overall Im happy with my game as in my puttng is ok for a beginner and my driving is ok for a beginner I'm driving straight and geting good distance.
However my iron shorts are letting me down terribly as Im getting no distance in them for example Im hitting a seven iron where as my playing partner would be hitting a pitching wedge.
Am i expecting too much or will it come with time?
    Any help would be great

Are you scooping them? ie trying to help them into the air rather than letting the loft of the club do the job. I see many beginners do that which greatly reduces distances.

Don't worry what your playing partner is playing is the first tip,

But have a look at a few pieces on ball position on the net. You tube etc.

We would need to know your ball flight ?

Alot of beginners have the ball far too forward in their stance,

If everything is correct , it is just basic swing speed, this takes time, but is of no real advantage if you are hitting the ball long and straight off the tee.

    Sounds like your doing well.
