Sky+HD and FTA channels.

    I have a sky+ HD box and a normal sky box. The normal one when turned on without the card will show the free to air channels starting with BBC on channel 101.

    When I start the sky+HD box without the card it still shows RTE on 101 and you still have to go to other channels to view some free to air channels such as ITV.

    Is there any way possible to set the + box to the UK FTA channels like the normal box when started without the card ?. Rugby word cup is coming up and a lot of games will be on ITV and if I can set the box to show the FTA channels I will be able to record the ones I miss. As it is I cant record them from the other channels list.

    Hmm if you set the + box to the UK FTA channels, it will no longer record programs as it has no card in it.

    There use to be a sky news trick of going to sky news hit the red button and take out the card but I dont know if that still works. Have you restarted the + box without any card in it to see what EPG you get?

    Didnt know you couldnt record without a card. I have restarted it minus the card and it doesnt change the EPG. Just prompts you to insert a card to watch the channels. What did the sky news trick do ?

    If I remember right it use to change your EPG over to the uk one.

    Only certain Sky+ HD boxes will revert to UK epg minus a card-you can thank a software update from Sky for that.
    99% of HD boxes are stuck on the Irish epg and nearly all the most popular (ITV,CH4 etc.) have to be viewed through other channels option,which is a pain in the ass.

    Check the sticky for tuning instructions or get a UK ftv card for access to the UK epg again plus a few extra previously unavailable channels (there's a thread on here about getting them)
