Building my first ever gaming pc.. Help please

Hey Guys, i am hoping ye can help me decide what to get , ill be using it mostly for gaming and I need it to run BF3 Skyrim, Arkham City etc comfortably. My budget is 700( I may be able to spend a little more)
So i need everything including the case , monitor , keyboard and mouse. ( I already have a copy of Windows7) I have been looking on the hardwareversand.de website and i have found a monitor keyboard and mouse I would like :

If the main use of your rig is gaming i would go for a 120 hz monitor

and do you want to built it yourself or buy a gaming ready case?

If you want to run BF3 properly you need a proper rig

Thanks Ill have a look at other monitors. I want to build it myself. Il probably order everything through hardwareversand .

I am totally clueless when it comes to this stuff tbh but ill give it a go

This is the 2500k cpu if you dont want to overclock you can go for the 2500

I wouldn't buy a keyboard from hwvs as it will be in the german layout.

A 120hz screen and the hardware to take advantage of it in upcoming games is way out of his price range. The Z68 motherboard and 8 gigs of RAM aren't vital either.
You're better off getting a cheap USB keyboard in Argos or something, most of HWVS's keyboards use the German localisation.

sorry but you don't need extra powerful hardware to make use of a 120 hz monitor (the size of the monitor and resolution your running it in makes what kind of hardware you need) and according to many (hardcore) gamers 120 hz makes a lot of difference

maybe you can save a few euro on the mb and memory ... for serious gaming i would go for nvidia anytime

But indeed its the budget that is the bottleneck in this case

imo with your setup except the cpu you want to upgrade again in 12 months time

SeyeM's build is very sensible/good

Build around a 2500k processor and ATI 6870 graphics given the budget - just barely possible.

When we had CRT's I wouldn't game on anything less that 125 hz, plus I could tell the diff - however, on modern flatscreens, a 100 euro 22 inch looks great, relatively speaking.

Pretty much, it has 3600 dpi instead if 1600, same weight,
hopefully it has the longevity of the mx518, still have mine for going on 4 years!

Thanks. That seems reasonable. I think ill drop the mouse and keyboard and get a cheap one in argos. What does the CPU cooler do? If its worth it ill get one of those aswell.

Which nvidia graphics card would you recommend?
What do i need to change to make it last longer rather than upgrading in 12 months time?

I am in de process of upgrading myself as well

for myself Im looking at

i5 2500k cpu

Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Intel Z68 motherboard

4 gigs of proper ram will do but make sure you can upgrade later (buy 8 myself)

Asus GeForce GTX 560Ti gpu

This is for around 650 euro

But hey this is what i would do .... can't look into other people's budgets

Motherboards who are ready for the next generation pci express cards (generation 3 ) are on the way ... should we wait for that ??? i dunno

I was looking for a serious gaming setup and this is what i am looking at atm combined with a 24" BenQ XL2410T 120Hz monitor
