People and their cars

So, was out with a couple of mates Saturday night, and ended up in the Maxol Station on the South Douglas Road.

Fella pulls up in a Civic and goes up to the window before me. I notice the car has a not-too-loud exhaust and a nice enough body kit.

So I'm there standing behind him, and thought I'd make a bit of conversation:

    Me: Is that a b16 or a b18?
    Him: Am, it's a replica.
Me: I can tell by the 4 nut wheels mate, whats the engine?
    Him: I don't know

Do people who decide to drive around cars that they believe to be modified have any idea what the ****ing fúck they're driving??

Now, don't get me wrong folks, my car is an absolute bucket of shít. It's a 1.4 16v Astra (2001) which is an XE engine. I'm under no illusion as to what I'm driving and completely understand when a Silvia or DC-2 or DC-5 pull up next to me and have a skit.

But Jesus like, a popular car like a Civic, especially one made to be a replica (which I gather isn't too hard) you're going to be asked questions about the engine, by people who can't spot the replica(isation), so why don't you learn a damn engine code, it's in the log book like!:p

4 stud wheels can be DC2 running gear as well, 4X114.3 ;)

I don't know the model number of my dishwasher.
for some people a car is just that. He probably bought the car as-is and just got it for what it was.

Aye, I've seen the pre-modded cars for sale on the web. Some people want one as it "looks cool", whilst others mod their car to their own style. I think the OP was talking to the former.

ya never said what it was a replica of, SiRs are 4 stud and as said DC2 hubs, though i assume since you mentioned the studs your talking bout a type r replica...

anyway knowing your engine code isnt the be all of everything. if someone looked down on me (not saying the OP was) for not knowing my engine code i'd tell them exactly where they could go...

Maybe he just didnt want to give out too much info about the car. For all he knew you could have been your average Joe car thief sussing out the car. I'd be hesitant talking to strangers about my car too.

It's a 3.2L that can go 0-60 in 3 seconds, and the suspension could hold an ATM in the boot. Why do you ask? :pac:

    When i owned a silvia
"I was asked do i drift?"
    "Does it go round?"
    Generally that finished the conversation.

Now i own a civic i'm never sure if I want to talk about it, there not that interesting.

    Id rather talk about boobies.

Are you a fairly big chap and used you have a fairly terrible looking Fiesta before the Astra?
When I had my Prelude some numpty asked me was it doc, I didn't know wtf he was on about tbh until he elaborated.
