01-08-2011 1:14am#1In continuing my trend of not reposting threads on different forums, here is the Akumakon 2012 thread Mach 3. With Turbobooster and afterburner.
Akumakon is an Anime, Manga and Japanese Culture convention which is due to occur on the 20th-22nd January 2012. It is taking place in the Aras na Mac Leinn building in NUI Galway. Coming off a successful first year, we are hoping to make this convention better in every aspect and increase the amount of "fun" experienced throughout the weekend. We will be carrying out scientific surveys to make sure this "fun" quota is achieved.
What can I expect at Akumakon?
Events! And lots of them!
Panels, Maid Café, Karaoke, Video Gaming, Games (see below for more information on this), Host Club, Anime Showings, competitions, tournaments, traders, artist alley, and lots more that I've either forgotten, or can't tell you at this moment in time 
This year we have a lot of extra space as extra parts of the building are available to us, and a whole new theatre too! I mentioned games above and here are a few things we have announced!
Beyblade! - Beyblade is coming to Akumakon! Dust off your old beyblades from the attic and bring them over to the convention to LET EM RIP! If you have more than one, then consider donating some for the day to the rental table so everyone can have a go! (permanent donations can be discussed) Arenas would be so cool so if you had any, that would also be amazing. We won't be taking this event very seriously but if you guys want a tournament, we will be more than happy to organise one.
Ninja Star Throwing! - Throw real ninja stars at real ninjas! Or not... since that would be highly illegal, and everyone knows you can't hit a real ninja, let alone see one. Instead we will supply, and show you how to make origami ninja stars. Show off to your friends and protect the world from the evil legion of TIN CANS.
Pin the arm on the Alchemist! - Edward Elric has lost is automail. Play the part of Winry as she attempts to replace the damaged arm. However, the evil homunculus... ehh... wrath... yeah, lets go with Wrath... has blinded Winry with an unremovable blindfold and has made her dizzy! Can you reattach the arm without horribly disfiguring your friend, or will you fail completely to attach it at all! Find out, at Akumakon!
We are still coming up with cool games to fill up this room. If you have any suggestions, we would love to hear them
Why should I come to Galway?
Well, firstly we are the cheapest Anime and Manga Convention in Ireland at the moment. Weekend passes are only 20euro and Day passes are 12. These prices are not final but we don't expect them to change. I'll confirm them in the near future.
Secondly, we are priding ourselves on quality this year. We are upping the amount of events, ensuring all equipment is ready for each event, and set up properly (no more brown holed and panelled wall, projector -_-) making sure we show nothing other than HD anime (that is 720p and above) on laptops that can take it, more panels (which have been checked and tested beforehand to ensure you get nothing but the best humour and information available), better security, a small theatre dedicated to Karaoke (all day), and much much much more.
I can't wait to announce all the stuff we have come up with to make Akumakon 2012 bigger and better than ever!
