Move router to bedroom

I currently have my UPC router and tv connected to a screw in connection box in my sitting room.

There already is a push in connector in the bedroom, could I connect the router to this if I get it activated?

Or do I need another screw in connector box installed in my bedroom for the router?

    it depends

If the push in socket in your bedroom is connected to the UPC network, then it will work fine.

If not, you'll have to get it connected.

Usually UPC comes into a house, and is distributed around.

The most modern way of doing this is to have an external box near your ESB meter or gas meter - is there a white box externally with some black co-axial cables in it? Is there two that are lnked together in it, or are many being fed from 1 cable?

    Thanks Dardania,

There is a couple of white boxes at the back of the apartment with some white piping hiding the cables.

If I ring UPC will they know if the connection in my bedroom is connected if it was used by a previous customer or do I have to pay an engineer to check it?

most likely they won't know - and even if it was in use, UPC would have put the proper connector on the wall in the bedroom.

Take a snap of the cables in the white box and post it here if you want.

Maybe ring UPC and ask them to move it if there'll be a charge?

if the cable in the bedroom is connected to the upc network.

then all you have to do is move the modem up to the bedroom.

upc dont know where you have the modem connected.
you could bring it to a neighbors house and plug it into the network and away you go.

    Ya will ring them tomorrow.

Will try and post a picture of the cables in the box too.

Tried the router in the bedroom doesn't work.

Will likely need a new connection point so.

Will I have to pay the 5 euro a month for this extra connection or just the install cost?

most likely the install cost, however I'd try to argue down the install cost...

I recall something in their pricing terms and conditions that network services were free, however can't find it at the moment...

Hi, what happened in the end for you ?

I recently moved bedrooms in my apartment and wanted to move the UPC connection. Tired to do it myself, but the modem doesn't sync to the network in the new bedroom. Move it back to the old room and it works again. I assumed once one connection in the apartment had connection to their network, then all the others would too, but doesn't appear to be the case.

    Cheers
