Toshiba repair question

My laptop is giving a few problems at the minute. In particular, there is an intermittent fault with the power adapter. I use the laptop plugged in (the battery gave up ages ago) and over the last week or so the laptop will suddenly lose power as if the lead had been pulled out.

It looks for all the world to be a problem with the power lead itself, perhaps a loose wire within the rubber sheathing, and if I move/shake the lead about power is usually restored. The problem is getting worse though, and at some point I suspect it will fail completely. Without a good battery, this will be a sorta problem.

My question is, does anybody know if there are any issues with the power socket on Toshiba laptops? I have located a replacement adapter, but money is tight and I dont want to buy a new adapter only to find the problem is with the socket and I am no further forward.

So just looking for opinions, if you had to make a choice, would you say the fault is more likely to be in the lead, or in the socket?

My guess if that it is the DC Jack and not your adapter, this can happen to any brand of laptop. DC Jack Repair between €90 and €120
