What ever about the result of this one if Connacht want a blueprint of how to build a successful team from an initially small and passionate fan base then look no further then what Exeter have done.

In fairness the deal by Farrell Travel is great. I'm on board with it :)

As a plus... anyone wanting to sign up for the Connacht Clan (official supporters club) will have an opportunity at the Exeter match.

The coach trip to the match is being organised by Farrell Travel.
It is leaving the Sportsground in Galway at 3:45pm. Will be there for KO (obviously!).
They will be taking in the French game in the Buccs Clubhouse before heading back, so no fears of missing the action. The cost will depend on the numbers involved, but Farrell Travel is only looking to cover costs. Fergus Farrell is on the Connacht Supporters Club committee, and it trying to kick the season off well with this trip.

It's going to be great craic.

But wait... there's more. There will be ample opportunity for those coming along to sign-up to the Supporter Club. If you are not a season ticket holder then this is probably your only way to have a shot as getting tickets to the Heinekin Cup games. Only €20! :)

    From http://www.exeterchiefs.co.uk/latest-headlines?item=927

On Friday the Chiefs will fly to Ireland for the first of those warm-up fixtures, tackling a Connacht side who after a fine season themselves last year have qualified for the Heineken Cup this time round.

It is - according to Hepher - a quality fixture for the Chiefs to get their teeth stuck into ahead of the new campaign. He said: "We have three good tests in pre-season and it's just what we want. For us it's important to test ourselves right at the top level so that we hit the ground running come the start of the Premiership. We're happy with the pre-season fixtures and just very excited about getting into them and seeing how we have progressed from last season.

"The boys have worked very hard for the last few weeks trying to put things together, but now we need to find out whether it's going to work. There will be things that come up over the weekend that we need to work on, but at the same time we're certainly looking for aspects of our game to kick on from last season. We've spent a lot of time practising our rugby over pre-season and hopefully we have developed as a team."

Saturday's fixture will be played at Dubarry Park, Athlone (5.30pm) and Hepher says the home side will offer a decent threat to their English visitors. He added: "With any Irish side their attitude is always second to none. That said, our attitude is something we are very proud of and we need to start off on that foot. It's important we don't relax and sit on last season, we need to kick on now.

"We have got to get better as a team - and I think we will - but equally we need that same attitude and desperation which we had throughout last season to kick on. I believe we've improved other aspects of our game, but we need that enthusiasm and attitude to build on."

Couple of changes, O'Halloran for Duffy at 15, Ofisa for O'Connor at 7.

    O'Connor and Duffy both injured.

Currently 3-0 to Exeter after about 5, Steenson penalty

McCrea had potential but was always a bit fragile when it came to injuries. I was a bit excited to see if he could come good with good gametime. I hope this isn't major.

Sorry lads, couldn't get updates for 2nd half.

Ragged enough performance, very rusty, scrum is a worry, especially with Ah You being 1st choice. However, the result and the performance doesn't worry me. I remember being at the 1st pre season Harlequins game last year when we were beaten out the gap. We were cat then as well. We had alot of debutants today, and it's a matter of getting the run out and the game in the players legs. It also gives Eric a stick to beat them with. If anyone in the squad believed the hype surrounding Connacht then they've been brought down to earth with a bang. We started the season well last year after a shocking display in our 1st game v Quins. Hopefully the same happens this year
