Lamping alone

Well lads, I'm finding it hard to get a good lamping partner at the moment. Most lads either promise to go and come up with an excuse not to at the last minute, or won't work the lamp the way they're supposed to either flicking the lamp all over the place or moving it too slow like they're searching the field for something. So here's my question, how many people here actually successfully lamp alone, and what equipment do ye use?
And if anyone in the templemore/thurles area wants a lamping partner I'll gladly work a lamp or a rifle for them I don't mind using either.

I have a deben maxi scopemounted light, with a switch on the forend, plenty of range for my HMR, only needs a single 12v 7ah battery that'll fit in a large coat pocket.

also have a LEDlenser P7 which is gr8 piece of kit too :)

I'm lucky enough to have a good lamping partner, I spend most time on the lamp as I'm better at calling than him :D When we're out together usually use lightforce 170

hi Declan. i would say 90% of my foxing is done alone. i am in the same boat as you when it comes to a lamping partner.
i was lamping the other night for tack and it worked out fine.

when i go lamping i mostly use my clulite, i can use it by hand or mount it on the scope and i can charge it as i drive. the battery is light enough and has a strap for my shoulder.

i also have the p7 that i can clamp to my scope but i prefer the extra clarity
    and range of my clulite.

i promise you when i get my .243 back i will hook up with you for a shot you can come down to me or i can call up to you, i dint mind ;)

cheers poulo that sounds good to me. I'm looking forward to seeing that 243 whenever you get it. I saw the action when I was up in fergals getting the bed job done, it has a lovely feel to it, sako make a lovely action. What make and profile barrel are you putting on it?

Ya it's a nice feel to the action alright. I am putting on a varmint barrel. About a 20 mm ish diameter 24" long with a 1-10 twist so it should be able to handle just about anything I put threw her. I'm getting ancy now but just waiting on the licence.

i had that problem and have tried everything out there and have come to the conclusion that the best way to go lamping on your own is with two led lenser m7r s. the p7 is good but rough on the batteries where the m7r is rechargable and 20 + lumens brighter. it can also be dimmed if needed. use one fixed on top of your scope and use the other as a scanner. you can also buy filters for the p7/m7r s which are dirt cheap. they are not much bigger than the p7 so fit in the pocket and weigh nothing on top of the gun.ive shot foxes out to 150 yrds and had no problem making him out even with the filter on. in saying that you get a yellow red blue and green filter- the red does dim it down a bit but its perfect for rabbits. the day of battery packs is gone thank god.

I lamp alone when I have to, but i am not really properly set up for it, I have a P7 but its not strong enough. Give me a choice and I'll have someone else with me if I can.
