    Hi,

I'm back, again. I posted in 2007 and later on in 2009, about buying one of these.

On both occasions, I backed down.

This time, I want to get one, after my first thread I went with a Jazz bass and it's fine but just getting tired of it now.

Am crawling the internet for a supplier or a used one. How does this sound

    4-string blue flake model fb4
    Badass bridge II
    basslines MM pickup
    aguilar OBP-3 preamp

Going to run into €2500-3000 I'd say..

You could keep an eye on "Talk Bass" and see what turns up.

Basschat is also good - and closer (UK). One went up for sale from Germany about a month ago: silver sparkle, Lane Poor pickup, Badass II bridge. Under €2000.

While you're waiting, why not get a Fleabass? Funky in every sense of the word. ;)

    Thanks all!

Going to florida in four weeks. Will be staying right near basscentral's shop. They've loads in stock.

Am I mad to chance buying one, and bringing it back/getting it shipped home?

Not really, once you have a decent hardcase you could even just pay the fee to carry it on.

You always run the risk of customs, which would be an extra 500 quid or so.

Yeah I guessed as much. So it won't be any cheaper than ordering from the UK. Scouring the net all day long!

edit: Found a used one on ebay USA, that'll do!

    Awesome!

Mind me asking how much it came to in the end?

    Nope..

€1440 for the bass & delivery
€409 for customs clearance (€60 of which was paid for a clearance agent to fill in my forms)

So €1849 in total. For a 2007 Modulus Flea..it's immaculate, not a single ding/scratch not even on the backplate covering the battery, it's probably been replaced.

I probably could have done better but I don't plan on selling this on ever so it's all relative..sort of.

    Oooh nice! Enjoy!

Just out of curiosity, when did the Flea basses stop coming with Bad Ass bridges?

I don't know - as far as I know these are custom made when you buy them from an official supplier so they ask you what setup you want, which bridge, preamp etc.. So, I know of a few different bridges that have come as 'stock' over the years

Lane Poor - no longer available
Basslines - apparently an exact replica of the LP
    Bartolini
    Badass
    Hipshot B

I quite like the look of the hipshot although I expected a Badass II bridge from reading the ebay description, no biggie.

Perfect. I much prefer the narrower necks. :)

Cool. I know Bad Ass' are rare nowadays, the hipshot bridge looks sturdy as hell though! :D
