Business Studies + a language vs. Int. Business in DIT

    Hello,

I may joining one of TCD or DIT soon and wanted to know if there are any reputations or general opinions regarding the strength and practicality of getting an international business degree from TCD or from DIT. They might be equally prestigious, and I know that Trinity is overall ranked lots higher than DIT if I understand correctly, but I am only asking about the reputation of those specific programs.

    Thanks in advance

I assume you're considering an Int. based degree since you want to travel / do business with foreign companies or work for a foreign company.

If so consider this, a lot of people have heard of Trinity abroad and know it's the "best" Irish university, while next to none have heard of DIT. I'd recommend Trinity over DIT since they'll have actually heard of Trinity and it will make you stand out to a certain extent. In terms of reputation both degrees are relatively the same, most business + language degrees are, it's the name of the university which will make it stand out.

If you plan on staying in Ireland though, it's pretty much irrelevant.

There is an odd rule in TCD where exams are marked out out of 80 for languages.

1-70 are worth scores 1-70 while 71-80 are each worth three marks.

Or maybe you just aren't capable of getting over 80%?
