could some one please tell me where i stand, i have 2 land registry maps 1 from 06 and the other from 08. on the 06 one i own my drive and on the newer one i only own half my drive way. i have been told this is because the lr maps are now done digital. but if i owned the land in 06 surely i still own it. my family have owned the land i've built on for 40 years:p

why not bring in the maps to the land registry offices (in the Four Courts, Inns Quay, Dublin 7)

get them to explain it and hopefully remedy the situation.

As part of the EU/IMF "deal" landowners now only own half of their own driveways.:D:D

(seriously, do as previous poster has said, and as soon as possible)

What if there is a mistake, ie if its just blatantly wrong? How do you get it rectified?

Fadó fadó you got a Land registry map drawn on part of an OS sheet showing boundaries drawn with a thin red ink line, rights of way coloured yellow etc. Admittedly you might have had to wait 3 to 6 months for it.

PRA have now gone digital - some boundaries are shown all over the place

These maps always had a note saying the boundaries thereon are not conclusive - many of them now useless and/or misleading in settleing boundary issues..

I had this issue on a house I bought in 2008. The digital maps were generated from satellite images and in our case the satellite decided a triangular patch of shrubbery meant the boundary wasn't straight. It was sorted out by the PRA within 3 days of being raised with them and the neighbours were not involved! Ths was an estate built 7 years prior and the boundaries were obvious - I had it surveyed and traced to the original maps and the specification in the original land sale/build contract. Neighbour wouldn't be died to object as they would have the same problem in the other side.

Land Registry maps are not in any case evidence of boundaries on the ground, its what in situ as the boundary that matters

You sure about that? Whats to stop somebody just moving their fence a metre onto their neighbours side and saying they now "own" that extra metre?

Yep, see s 85 Registration of Title Act 1964

If someone moves their fence, the owner of the land they move the fence on to has 12 years to bring an action for trespass.
