M50 Toll Bridge advice

Starting a new job next week and will have to commute up and down the M50, and to my disdain, through the toll bridge.

Just looking for advice as to what my best options are regarding payment.

Setting up a tag with e-flow seems to be the cheapest option but are there any better alternatives?

    Thanks.

    Tailgate a lorry.

First response I was expecting was actually go through Lucan :-D ... which unfortunately, timewise, is not a viable option.

Don't they have rear-facing cameras now?.. or was that just an empty threat/scaremongering?

Could always go down the no front reg route if that is the case :D

... Seriously though, I don't want this thread turning into a "how to evade paying the e-flow" thread - i'm just looking for advice on payment options

Two wheels are your only man. Motorbikes are free on the M50. Saving a fortune over using the car. Use a video tag for the car whenever the snow comes and then thats another story :D

Nice, but I'd prefer a Bond style smoke screen myself!:D Seriously though, I'd say you'd get pulled for having that within a month.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Yeah I imagine that after a week of the cameras recording the same looking car with both plates face down and passing through at the same times every day it would quickly become apparent that there's a devoted toll dodger in action. A squad car lying in wait could confirm this.

Yep, I saw a bit on one of those UK traffic cop shows where they pulled a biker with a similar flipping number plate. He got done for attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The website www.tagcompare.ie does not give information on actual toll charges but there is a sign at the M50 bridge that advertises a €2 toll, does anybody know how to avail of this?

i wanna know what the story is if your car is covered in snow and you drove through the thing with incredibly snowy plates that the camera couldnt pick it up ?

The bridge is €2 with a tag, €2.50 with video registration and €3 cash.

Easytrip do a €2 toll,, but have a €1 per month account fee... if you are a regular user of the toll than this is the one for you...

tolltag.ie do a €2.20 m50 toll, but there is no monthly fee, ideal for not so regular users ..

    Hi Bebop,
If you register a vehicle (or vehicles) with eFlow, you can avail of one of two options (as mentioned by others here):

The Tag Account, which costs €1.21 (including VAT) per month per tag per vehicle, and with this, a toll journey for a standard car costs €2.00. The electronic tag can be used on all tolls in the Republic of Ireland, and there is an express lane at the toll plazas for those driving with tags.

The other option is the video account, which is for the M50 only, and is, as pointed out, more suitable for infrequent users of the M50 toll as there is no device, so no monthly fee – the licence plate is just read by camera/manually, as with unregistered vehicles. With this facility, a standard car toll costs €2.50. Just to clarify: eFlow is the only provider that offers the video account. :)

Payment is taken the following month for the total number of charges incurred, by direct debit or automated card payment. A statement is issued at the start of the month, and payment is taken the second half of the month.

    Hi robbie_998,

The licence plates of all vehicles are read manually, and any that are difficult to read are zoomed in on! :)

    Regards,
    Una
