This is a very nice bargain indeed, and yes , although it is a 2010 model phone, it is still well worth 129€ now, just over a year later. This phone WAS going for 300€ a year ago

    http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/samsung-wave-s8500-680092/review

So why is it still worth 130€? It still a simple gorgeous looking and feeling phone. Fells nice than the original Galaxy S IMHO (Coming from a Galaxy S Owner!). Feels like a more expensive product, i think.

Whats more, it has a nicely sized screen at 3.3" and more importantly, its Super AMOLED, which is a brilliant screen technology. ever seen a Galaxy S or Galaxy S2, you'll know what i mean. No screen can match an AMOLED in terms of wow factor or brightness

ON the downside, it uses Samsungs own propriety BADA operating system which will probably never go anywhere, but I'm sure it does all the basics just fine

Also, its worth mentioning that is has a 1GHz chip (Same one as the Galaxy S), and a 5MP camera with LED flash, and a 1500mAh batter, all of which you simply wont find in any other 130€ handset..

So to ask probably a stupid question is this phone an android? Or does it still use BADA?

Does everything work on android though? It's kinda piointless if it can't make calls or the battery only lasts a few hours.

I wasn't aware of this actually, as I'd passed my wave onto the mrs. Looking at the info, while some features work, some other vital parts don't. I'll have to keep an eye out. If I could put a reliable version of android on the wave, i'd buy another one new for myself!

Only in alpha stage at moment (no making any phone calls, 3g etc).

However id expect to see a solid beta by xmas. Getting android fully working on a phone with this spec would indeed be a bargain of the year!

Same here. It would be a nice little upgrade to my orange san francisco.

I know its said in nearly every recent phone bargain, but I think the LG Optimus 7 for €170 is a much better deal, but thats my opinion.

Bada 2.0 is due in the next month or so - but overall it is a very decent phone for that price.

Wonder is this a special offer or if it will remain at this price? Would be interested in a few months if further progress is made on that android port.

    Where's that?

Too bad the Android port isn't ready, that would make this an irresistible bargain...

Theres a seller on ebay called price-guard selling them for 169.90. I think postage has to be paid of about 15-20 euro.

What is the downside of having BADA?

No apps designed for Android? Would you find very little choice in apps for the BADA OS?

    Anything else?

Does look a good price for my first smartphone.

Bada is pretty poor, but this phone is excellent. If it had android it would have the same performance and versatility of the Galaxy S. I've grwon fed up of waiting for an android port or even a Bada update though.

Just frustrating, there's some decent apps, but by and large you'll resent people with Android and iPhone for being so up-to-date. It's a great phone though, and does the important things very well.. Don't expect Bada 2.0 if you're on Three tho, cos they're not releasing it.

I have had cheap android phones in the past and they are really bad and give a bad impression of the android OS. You would need to buy a high end smartphone to get the full android experience.

Go with the optimus 7 though. I still think that has to be one of the best bargain alerts I have seen on this forum : P

just got an email from metor "You recently ordered from our online store. We are sorry but unfortunately we cannot fulfil this order due to the high demand received."

Cant say im devastated or anything, was going to save it until I was sure what was happening with the android install on it. Would have been some bargin if that was to happen but I se on Adverts.ie that they are been sold at the same price

Maybe I am just cheap, but I could never say 379e for a phone was a bargain.

Deja Vu. This phone was sold by the carphone warehouse last december for a similar price and the exact same thing happened. A lot of people ordered only to be told that it was unavailable due to high demand. It was a huge bargain alert thread which many unhappy campers.
