Mauser SR (mostly known as L96 if im not mistaken) is a springer while KJW M700 Police or Take Down versions are gas operated. I never had an L96 but i do own the KJW M700P and it was purely an impulse buy for plinking (never regretted it). All you need is a 3x-9x40 Scope and a bipod and you are good to go :D. In my case gas too. When it comes to gas consumption i can only praise the M700P as a full load will last 4 pushing it 5 reloads at 10 shots a pop. If you by worth it you mean a skirmishable sniper rifle then people tend to lean towards JG Bar-10 or TM VSR for price/availability/upgrade options.

personally speaking i would go with the mauser for the following reasons:
    1. better shot to shot consistancy
    2. less complicated internals
    3. greater selection of internal up-grades.
    4. mags are cheaper, more widely avalible
    5. more reliable.
    6. more comfortable to use
at the end of the day though the choice is yours.
