Okay, So I took my Giant XTC 4 for a road cycle and think I have the wrong machine for road cycling (I did buy the bike for biking some trails in wicklow - but a patella injury knocked that on the head as the impart on bumpy terrain really irritates it) However on wednesday with the sunny weather I strapped up the knee and off I went for what I thought would be a short spin out the coast from Portmarnock to swords,s .. how ever this wasnt enough and I felt good so I decided could I make it to rush .. SO doing some what of a forest gump I carried on. the speedometer on my bke was around 35 kph and peddeled the whole way and pushed myself (I wouldnt be the fittest as I stopped training with the knee injury and started back in a gym about 3 months ago doing spin classes and cross training as my only cardio) hw ever I think it some what paid off as I made it to rush, skerries, lusk, swords, malahide and home to portmarnock. I think it was 38 miles covered in a desperit record of 3 hours LOL but I felt happy about it and feel if I had a race bike it would be better ? any one any ideas on this as my handle bars are normal compared to the nice racing bikes with various hand positions (one which I think would be of benifit is the two coming from the center of the T bar)
also... from reading another thread whats this about jersys? do you buy these in the cycle shop or from a club you join ?
and regeards the tight shorts ..... is there padding in them ? and is it for speed ,, I cant see how they are of comfort ...
any thing else I eed to know ? Id really like to get into it more as I find it addictive travelling to fas destionations at speeds and the climbs / sprints inbetween .. as well as feeling afterward ...
on anoth note are the tubeless tyres any use on race bikes ? I see there available for my mountain bike .. beats having to stop and struggle with removing the tyre / tube ect ect =)

    thanks in advance
