Never understood why this story was so under-report by the media especially in America.

It happened four years ago but I recall only hearing about it no more than a year ago by chance.

I never heard of this either. I'm glad that the victims families got at least some sort Justice. such brutal killings.
The killers are so evil. Cant even begin to imagine what went through the poor victims heads while this torture went on.

I would have a keen interest in true crime and this is one of the worst cases I have ever heard of. It's definitely a hate crime but we are not allowed to say that in case we upset certain people. I tell you one thing this is a strong case to convert to atheism.

Terrible crime, at least it was america where they take crime seriously (and not some liberal European country). They all got long sentences and most likely sent to a fairly grim prison... where they certainly belong (and hopefully die).

I read about that story a couple of years ago. An absolutely disgusting crime and it is difficult to know whether it is racially motivated or as the Police Chief stated, a "random violent act".

If you read about prison rape in the US, you'll see that the vast majority of the estimated seventy thousand prisoners raped annually are white males with the perpetrators being black.

If you delve further, among the reasons given are that white people rarely recognise race lines until it's too late. This leaves them on their own and vulnerable to attack from gangs. Also, a pent-up hatred against white people is released inside a prison environment for their perceived dominance in the outside world.

Back to this unfortunate couple, well, who knows the reason? Only a fool would believe that racism against white people doesn't exist and only a racist would automatically assume a black criminal and a white victim involves a racist motive. I only highlighted the prison article because of it's relevance to racially motivated crimes. They do happen to white people too.

I would guess that there is a lot of resentment toward whites from blacks and other people that have been, or are, marginalised by the system - or perceives themselves as being marginalised, particularly in USA.
For instance regarding prison time: it has been estimated that Blacks and Latinos received longer sentences and spent more time in jail than their white counterparts who were convicted of similar crimes and with similar criminal records.
One particular example revealed the state of California statistically imposed sentences that averaged 6.5 months longer for Hispanics, and 1.5 months longer for Blacks when compared to white inmates.

As said - if the roles had been reversed it would probably have been marked as a hate crime immediately and no amount of black friends/girlfriends would have helped.

The white prisoners might be in the minority but also suggests they might be more selective about who they rape then their fellow black prisoners who in the Hollywood movie stereotype , is the always the bad guy outside who threatens somebody ( usually a white guy) with getting it regularly' up the ass ' inside .

Strikes me that the perpetrators did it because they are/were twisted fuks, not necessarily because the victims were white. I'd say the exact same if the situation was the reverse in terms of racial profiles. Obviously the OP has an agenda - why else would he drag up a random four-year-old case?
