Fresh install questions

Right, I've decided to do a completely fresh install on my macbook (Blackbook that's nearly 3 years old).

There's just a lot of crap on here that I really dont need and it's started to lag a tiny bit at times (Stuck in another 2 gigs of memory last December which improved things dramatically, but not enough).

So basically, I want to do a completely fresh install of OSX (I have the discs that came with the machine and the disc for Snow Leopard) and eventually get Lion (I've heard a good few complaints that it's a bit buggy, so I'm in absolutely no rush).

But I'm not entirely sure what I need to do. I want to format the HD completely because the last time I attempted to use boot camp I got told to go away, your HD is a mess (I had a few partition problems when I installed ubuntu once) and had to use paralells because I had a project in college that had to be done in Access 2003... but yeah, I need to format the HD but amn't entirely sure how...

Currently doing a Time Machine back up as a back up measure and am gonna transfer all my music/films onto another HD when that's done.

Put in the SL OS disk. Restart, and when you hear it turn on, and before the drive, hold the C button.

This will boot from the cd. Then it will bring you through a couple of windows, until the top menu bar appears. Go to Disk Utility from that, and select the drive and wipe it. Then quit disk utility and just follow the instructions to install from there.

There used to be a really good guide online, with pictures that I have used before. If I find it, I'll link you.
