They might be available to you online once your are a registered student of UCC. The blackboard system might display the list of required books. More than likely its when you start in September is when you be given a list of books to get, instructed by lecturers. Lecturers will have their own page of modules where you will probably get the list of books there. They will list it out themselves on paper or on the board in the classroom as well as an online page of the list being displayed on the projector on day one!

I'd nearly argue you don't need a book for any course. Everything you need is online anyways and if you do need a book the library is there.

I agree but books are handy to have on hand when you need them despite most things being available online just that a book in say java or networking modules would be handy as a form of reference.

For the most part you be ok without books, you get most of the notes from lecturers and online for that course. Then again for the likes of Java its worth having a book for it and for some other subjects if you need to get your head around coding and networking modules. Worth having to prep for exams and doing assignments. Library is great but handy to have your own book too, think its better, you can use the necessary book(s) when ever! Writing out your own notes too from what you have learnt from lectures/lecturers notes and required books is good, really helpful when assignments are due and for studying for exams. Good luck OP

You wont be doing any java / networking modules till second year.

If you're going to do the elective maths module (ma1003) i found my leaving cert maths books a godsend

Do maths, it's a doddle, if you could do leaving cert you'd be grand. I'll sell you my book if you like, but you won't be needing it, we used mine to hold up a table for a while last year (Although I agree with teddy, LC maths books are the best option, and past papers from MA1003). I've already offered help to a couple of people who are doing MA1003 next year, might as well offer it again =p (I am serious)

Should be ok, a friend of mine thought she'd fail (having only done pass maths) but ended up with 88% at the end of the year.

Yeah I somehow ended up with 94%, could of sworn i was going to fail the module as well! integration only clicked with me a week before the test!

Have a look at http://db.tt/BVM6PRi for some exam papers!

Edit! btw, how'd you get along in it Aoi?

99.5% Got an A1 in LC so I found it easy and I do love maths.

Imma assume you're in CK401, do you know Joe & Henry? I'm in CK402 so maths was compulsory for us.

Yep, sure do! I'm sharing a flat with henry next year! know joe from the labs!
We get pleanty of choice for our elective module, we had the choice from 2 maths modules, some economics modules and a fair few language ones! Would hate to be forced into ma1003 if i didn't want to do it!

I helped Joe with maths before the exam. You're one of the fellas who walked back from CIT with us after the maths exam if I'm not mistaken. Maths was my favourite module, it was great, didn't even have notes for half the lectures.
