    hi,

For some reason unbeknownst to me the letters "g" & "h" arent working on my laptop anymore. (Before anyone asks, I am copying and pasting each letter when needed!). Anyway, my laptop isnt under warranty anymore so Im looking for a solution. It was suggested to me that I could customly reprogram the keyboard in such a way that keys which I rarely use could be substituted to be letters "g" & "h".
If anyone could tell me how this is done or has any alternative solutions I would really appreciate it!

    Thanks

Did a liquid spill on the machine at any stage? Chances are you would need to replace the keyboard, not that hard a job usually if you are familiar enough with computer hardware/upgrading etc. Look on ebay for a new keyboard for it, look up service manuals for your laptop online, should be a guide to disassembling it somewhere!

make sure it is the keyboard first by calling up the on-screen keyboard by going to start-run and typing in osk
if that works then as yoyo says buy a new one off of ebay

    Great stuff, thanks!
I got my hands on a spare keyboard and replacing it was actually a stress-free 5 minute job

Internal or external, 5 mins to swap out an internal keyboard is good going, must be a well designed machine :)

It's a Dell Inspiron. A friend of mine has an old one and let me take out the keyboard from that one and put it onto mine. There are plenty of YouTube instructional videos. Turns out it's only a matter of unscrewing 4 or 5 screws, sliding out the keyboard, unclipping that tape (Don't know the technical term) and doing it in reverse to replace it! A lot less complicated than I had thought!
    Cheers for the tips!

Good to hear :) Dell laptops especially the older ones were well built and easy to upgrade/fix :). I'd call it a ribbon cable but not sure thats the technical term either :P Glad it worked out anyways, :)
