You cant uninstall vista while you are logged onto it you have to wipe it off using the XP disc. I find the simplest way to install one OS over another is this:

    1. Make sure you have backed up anything you want to save(documents, pictures, etc.)

    2. Once you are happy that you have everything you need saved in a different place to the computer you need to restart your computer with the windows XP cd in the drive.

    3. BEFORE it shows you the windows vista loading screen you need to hit F12 to go into the boot menu. It will allow you to choose where you would like to boot the machine from (in your case you will want to choose the CD drive where you have the Windows XP cd inserted.)

    4. Once you have selected to boot from the cd drive follow instructions on screen until you are brought to the partition select screen.

    5. In the list of partitions there should be one that has vista on it. You need to delete that partition(highlight it and press L, i think.) and then create a brand new partition to install XP on.

    6. once you have created the partition highlight it and press enter. If you are brought to a screen asking to format it choose the NTFS option.

    7. Now just follow instructions on screen and wait while XP is being installed.

If your having trouble understanding those instructions as I know they arent the best :P There's an excellent guide here: http://www.buildeasypc.com/sw/windows_xp.htm

Hope that helped and good luck! :D

:D .... are you sure you want to try this yourself??

Theres no guarantee your laptop will run under XP. Before you even attempt this you need to go to the Acer website and find the drivers page for your laptop. If you can't find XP Drivers for your laptop, this is not a good idea.
