Reporting a PSN user

Has anyone ever reported another player on PSN?

The reason i ask is because i was playing with a right little scrote last night that really got my back up.
I'm quite an easy going guy but i don't see any reason why i should listen to a guy come on and spout racist abuse and talk in an abusive and threatening manner.
I know there is a mute button but the guy in question is on some of my friends lists so i can probably expect to come across him again.

What happens when someone makes a complaint about you?
Do you automatically gat a temporary ban or message to say you've had a complaint?
And does it say who the complaint came from?

Sony only deal with 1st party games and the non-game side of PSN, ie text messages.

I call you something in Black ops over voice chat then Activision deal with it and it's difficult as i don't think it's recorded for them to check, but if while playing i send a text message you can report that. For Voice chat i think a mod has to hear it after listening in after a complaint has been made.

It depends on the game and how the person is acting like an ass. It never says who the complaint came from just don't say you're making a complaint about someone as that counts as threatening if they didn't do something wrong or you end up not submitting the report.

after destoying some uk player in ssf4, he messaged me some really offensive stuff which I took huge offence to. I was a bit tanked after a bottle of vino and a few cans, and I reported it on the PSN site and tagged the grievance button on the message (tbf i wouldnt have bothered if i was sober). That was about a month ago, and I dont know what the end result of it all was.

There was some fella on here a year or so ago who said that he won a match against a 14-year old on FIFA, and I think the little fecker got all his mates to report him for abuse, he was banned from the PSN and had to set up a new account.

So I think if enough complaints are made against someone you get banned. I think. Perhaps. Um... maybe.

That can't happen.

There are a few sites dedicated to "why was i banned" rants and you see it being blamed on other people who picked on them in some game before a mod comes back and says it's due to the something the newly banned player really did do.

Just mute him like you said, or play another game, its call of duty online after all.

Nope wasn't COD, I don't play that anymore. I haven't actually reported him as I've calmed down since.
Also it seems to be a waste of time anyway.

I love annoying(certain) people with basic non-offensive messages, try to get them to send me an offensive one... then I switch to my PC and report them

when someone beats me in ea mma, or ssf4 i usually send them a message saying ''go hang yourself out the back garden off daddy's ladder''.

that or a bit of racist abuse always gets em going.

had two psn accounts banned though lol :P

Yeah i dunno about reporting people on 3rd party games ive been reported about 20 times by people for doing challenge lobbies and stuff but nothing happened sony dont care
