Peugeot 407 DPF May Not Be Regenerating

    Guys

    Can anyone help me out.

I have a 407 which seem to have issues regenerating, well at least thats what I think it is. Every 400 miles or so, it starts to get very jerky, losing power etc.

Once I bring the revs up to 3,500 and drive it like that for 10 minutes or so she back to normally. No warning lights on.

Only have the car 3 months and it has always done this.

About 3 weeks ago the battery connect came lose and I reconnected it, the "Depollution System Faulty" warning came up and Peugeot fitted new pre exchanger air temp sensor. They said nothing else is showing up on the ECU. Still the car is jerky.

The problem I have at the moment is that the car hasn't been Jerky in over 500 miles, and I fear it may not be regenerating, is there a way to check that it is generating without going to Peugeot.

I have the NCT tomorrow and don't want any warning to appear at the last minute

    Thanks

It shouldnt be jerky while regenerating.

I know, but the guy in Peugeot said it could be the EGR valve and apparently there is no way to test it other than replace it, which is expensive

IS there anyone around the Cavan area that know their stuff out Peugeot DPF Issues.

Main dealers are so expensive, its a 2004 407 and its just not worth putting huge money into it.

It might possibly be, but surely you could just get the EGR valve cleaned rather than replacing it. Have you a warranty on the car? They guy to ask is a user called Row on here. There's nothing the guy doesn't know about Pug diesels;)

I had a temp sensor in the exhaust replaced yesterday due to a DPF fault. Car just went straight into limp mode. Never had any jerkiness.

I might say it too him alright, I seen a lot of posts by him and he seem to know his stuff.

Bit far to drop down to him, Cavan to Galway, but if he could sort the problem it would be worth it.

EPM, how often should they regenerate anyway.

I mainly do motorway drive from Cavan to Dublin (Everyday), about 170 miles a day.

How long before I would get a warning if it wasn't regenerating.

Doesn't the 407 have a fluid that is injected into the dpf to regerate it, has anyone checked that its still full?

As for saying their is no way to test the egr valve:rolleyes: you have to stand in awe at the waffle some garages come out with!

I don't know about Pug's but VAG cars usually do it with about 25-40 grams of build up in the filter. Anything over 45 means it may be permanently clogged needing replacement. It all depends on your driving. Your motorway driving is the ideal environment for DPF's to function properly so I wouldnt worry too much tbh.

The guy in Peugeot put 3 litres of fluid in when they replace the temp sensors 3 weeks ago.

He said there is about 5 litres in it at present

if its the 1.6 hdi these tend to run lumpy while going tru a regen...Its usually down to the injectors post injecting fuel into the cylinders which heat up the exhaust temp...This inturn burns the soot within the dpf...:)
Sometimes the egr's valves can cause hesitation while under acceleration..usually around 1800-2000rpms...egr faults don't always bring up faults on these...
I'm heading towards Cavan at the weekend so i can bring along the laptop if you want me to plugin...:)

Can you buy the fluid yourself and top it up? Need to do it on my 607 but don't want to pay a dealer to do it for me.

Yes you can top it up yourself but you will need someone with good level diagnostic equipment to reset the system....:)

what year is your 607..??..if its pre 02 then its usually Dpx42 and if its 02 onwards then usually eloys 176.
