    Hey

Me and my girlfriend are planning to do "an Africa overland" trip next summer for between 4-5 weeks and im just wondering has anyone experience with this type of travel, what the groups are like and whats needed. We're looking at South Africa to Kenya but not sure which company to use yet. Kumuka or Oasis Overland look like good companies.

Any advise or tips would be really appreciated.

    Thanks in advance :)

It's nice to go with tours, but expensive and not always necessary. I lived in Lesotho and know the southern region well (South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Swaziland). Never managed to get to Zimbabwe or Botswana.

Well, SA, Namibia, Swaziland and Lesotho are all very easy to drive around independently and there are good bus services available. You can also book tours in-country and they're much cheaper. I can't speak for Kenya. Tanzania, Mozambique ... driving is difficult if not used to it so perhaps better with a tour as there's little else to do except for beaches or safari (unless you want to do slum visits/volontourism).

If you've any questions, ask away.
