Dresses!

I bought what I thought was a dress - It turns out that it is a very long top! It is slightly on the short side, in terms of wearing it as a dress, but it's not terribly short and also kicks out in a swishy sort of style and is therefore not on the tight side. I wondered whether anyone has ideas as to how to wear something like this - I tried it on with tights but am having second thoughts about teaming it with opaque tights since I figured out that it's a top :O What else could I wear it with? Leggings tend to make me look short and I'd prefer to have my feet covered, so maybe teaming them with boots would do the trick. Anyway, I'm mainly looking for advice and would like to know how you all wear your dresses and long tops. Thanks!

Well you say it looked like a dress but turned out to be a long top, is this because it doesn't cover your bum? I know it's probably not what you want to hear, but if it something doesn't cover the bum area I'd say it requires trousers, with a long top I'd generally wear skinny jeans.

If it does cover you, but was just labelled as a top, then go for it with anything, if you didn't notice it's not a dress I'm sure no one else will :)

I have a few dresses that are quite short. I team them with a pair of short shorts and a pair of cons (to cover your feet) Casual but cute! :)

Get a seamstress to have a look at it. Maybe they could let the hem down or maybe add another panel to the bottom of it. I custom a lot of my clothes like that!

you could try an underskirt or a slip to add length to the dress :)
