I have made a baby jail - Cornered in about a 6' by 4' corner and am ready to glue up varnish and fix but i am wondering is standard varnish ok to use on wood thats going to be chewed?

She only has one tooth at the moment but have seen it leave marks and there are more chompers on the way..

I presume it is but does anyone know if standard varnish is alright to use??

    What timber did you use?

I made a crib for my baby last year out of mahogany and used tung oil to finish as it is non toxic - used on salad bowls and the like. Finish came up well but she was out of it before she could start chewing on it anyway.
