Obtaining iPod profile in OS X

My iPod Nano (3rd Gen, I think) was stolen while on holidays. My travel insurance company requires proof of purchase. I don't have the receipt or the original box (I had these recycled long ago!).

However, I'm sure there must be evidence on my MBP somewhere that it's been in my possession. In particular, I mean that I registered my iPod with my MBP some time ago.

Is it possible to find/access a file somewhere which I could print out proving that I did, indeed, own this iPod?

    hi,

just did a quick check there and if you go to
    ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync
(make sure its the Library in your home folder)
also if Library is missing in Finder (ty Lion)
press Alt when pressing Go from the menu in finder)

there s a folder with a really long string of characters.
inside that theres a file called info.plist.

open it with textedit or something similar.
its should contain the iPod name/ serial number etc

if you have a few different devices synced you might have to go thru a few folders.

    hope this helps
