Am a low budget golfer and see an offer for 6 months full membership for 249 euros?

Any comment on the club from anyone in the know- want to use it as a springboard to playing a lot more and getting my handicap down.

Any thoughts welcome, was going to join in the next couple of weeks....

ive played dublin mountain a few times, i liken it to a big field with slightly shorter grass for greens.....i cant stand the place but tis my own opinion, i know a few lads that are quite fond of it!!

played it once, as said big field with shorter grass for a green, wouldn't waste my money

If you want to improve youre game look elsewhere. greens are v. poor quality - look like they havent had a decent rolling in... well, never! if you become accustomed to putting and chipping into bumpy slow greens you'll do no favours for your short game when you play a decent course.

the green keeper needs a good kick up the arse.

having said that, there is a market out there for cheap golf... but these guys dont want to spend money on maintenance. its very rough around the edges out there - theres no reason why tee boxes and general areas off the playing surface shouldnt be kept neat & tidy.

it seems mediocrity is where they want to be.

you should still head out there and play a round yourself tho. Oh, and remember youre safe-cross-code... youll need it!

thanks for the opinion lads - think I am gonna join purely to get my handicap and then maybe transfer to a distance jobby next year. Just want to get playing regularly and for 250 including green fees just think it might be a cheap and cheerful way to get started.

Once you have your GUI no. you can play Open competitions anywhere. theyre ususally much cheaper than green fee's. you could treat yourself to one every so often & you get to play top quality tracks for circa €20.

look on the gui website for a list of upcoming opens. theyre a great experience to get under your belt. just be sure to familiarize yourself with the R&A rules of golf prior to playing in comps.

if your looking for cheap golf in that area you could try hazel grove GC, a a bit hilly but ive played a few rounds there and the greens were a little slow but still very nice....i also had a great laugh in the bar afterwards.....think they have an open on a tuesday evening....could be worth a look!!

Silloge GC just off the M50 ballymun exit is only 250 for the year too. i don't know what you'd think of that place though?!

I think you might be confusing Dublin Mountain with Dublin City;)

lads please just report and then leave it, commenting and quoting just makes more work for us and advertises the shill even more.
it's also back seat modding which is against the charter...
