Sen. David Norris will replace Vincent Browne on TV3 for part of next week as Vincent is away on his holidays.

Is it just me or is this just a little cheap/crass? A statesman and potential President now standing in on a political comment show? I just find it a little opportunistic or something. Maybe not quite along the lines of Katie Price but it does scream of a bit of media desperation to me...

Me thinks it'll either make or break him... Any thoughts?

Would that not be conflict of interest or something? He gets a competitive advantage hosting such a prominent tv show for a week

Playing them at their own game.

You have to play dirty in Irish politics, sher weren't they intent on portraying him as a tacit supporter of paedophilia just a few weeks ago.

I would have thought if you're aspiring for a high profile and quite a dignified role you'd act accordingly in the run-up to the election. Presenting a show that you have been/will be interviewed on, for the role in question, is bad taste in my opinion.

It begs the question: what would he be like if President?

Another way of looking at it is it will be a good opportunity to see if he can remain neutral on issues he may have an opinion on, which is often an important chracteristic for a president.

It most certainly would give a competitive advantage to him. Would the other candidates be justified iN asking for similiar slots ?

Oh he has become quite adept at being neutral now - in fact I would describe it as being as typically evasive as any irish TD now.

He hasn't been nominated ... so technically he isn't a candidate yet

There's no technically about it. He is still seeking a nomination, he's not a candidate.
