Airline Online Booking Help

I'm intending to book a flight to NYC on charter flight leaving Dublin for three people. I researched lots of different airlines which were the cheapest and could fit in with my dates and budget.

One airline I found would give the dates I wanted at a reasonable price and would let me proceed to book the tickets on the website.

With this research done, I went into a travel agent to enquire about flights basically to see if they could get me a better deal than what I had found on the internet.

When I went into the travel agent however they told me, two seats are available but a request for the third seat would have to placed with the airline but she basically said theres a 50:50 chance of actually getting the third seat and so the money would be refunded if they couldnt give us the third seat. He told me seats are usually held in this case for people with only deposists on it etc but really the liklihood of the third seat coming available was slim.

    1. Should I just go ahead and book it online anyways and wait to see what happens or is this really risky?? Would they send a booking reference/confirmation immediately after making the purchase or would they delay that in light of the ?third seat being available?

I dont want them sending me something a week or few days before going that 2 people can travel but not the third!!

    2. Also if they offer a refund, will they offer it for all three seats (so we can rebook together with a different airline)?

I'm so confused. Thanks for your help :)

I'm totally confused! I wasn't aware of any CHARTER flights from Dublin to NYC.

I personally wouldn't use a travel agent, can you not pay now for the flights? Use your credit card for added safety.

Use www.skyscanner.ie for best flight options and prices, this searches all the flights available. Never heard of TA's not being able to book 3 seats all sounds very odd.

I'd imagine OP meant scheduled flights.

Use skyscanner as suggested above or refer to the sticky in the Travel forum containing a list of websites which consolidate flight info and pricing etc.

Book Direct with the Airline tbh, then it's all one reservation, one itinerary and if they can't honour it for whatever reason at least they'll have to come up with something for all 3 of you.

    Should be fine.
