Regarding an old Endorsement and insurance renewal

    hello.

    I have previously been insured by one direct aviva for car insurance and I am renewing my car insurance now.

    I have shopped around and found a good price with 123.ie but after going through this with the 123.ie guy he said he was sorry but they cannot insure me as I have an Endorsement on my licence. he also said even if I had an Endorsement 40 years ago they could not insure me ?.

    the Endorsement on my Licence says Disqualified for holding a Licence for 4 years section 112 unlawful carrige in m.p.v from 10/11/58 on 10/11/88.

    3rd final ending 17/08/2011

    first off, I was born in 1969 so why does this say 10/11/58 ?

    also I was wondering if you can explain to me why 123.ie will not insure me seeing that this stupid thing I done was when i was a young teenager 23 years ago.

    any information in regard to this would be helpful and to why an insurance company holds this against me after 23 years.

    Because they can. Shop around or go through a broker, furnishing them with all the details. Good luck!

    well so far I think aviva will only insure me as their policy is, if you haven't had an Endorsement in the last 5 years they will insure you but I think most of the others don't do this. well I will just have to try a few other places but I think i'm stuck with only one insurance company.

    aviva were charging me €1,050 for last years insurance but now they have said the price has gone up on all insurance companies and it will now cost me €1,105.58. the quote I got from 123.ie for the year was €556.03. all this was fully comp.

    will just look into this again later. thanks for the reply.

    well after spending hours getting quotes with no luck because of that old Endorsement I finally got a cheaper quote from AA, they insured me for the year for €775.90 fully comp compared to aviva's €1,105. 58. it was definitely worth spending time shopping around thats for sure.
