If you go up to your local Health Centre the Community Welfare Officer will advise you on how to best act. If they can't help ring Bord Gais to see do they offer a "monthly payment plan" if you get it fixed through them.

Do you have a fireplace? Sticks and coal might be a good option in the interim.

If your living in Republic of Ireland then you can apply for exceptional needs payment via the CWO or an Urgent needs payment, one way or another they should sort this out for you as you don't have any means to do so yourself and it was not your fault that this happened. Just go directly to your CWO and tell them about this problem.

Although in saying the above, you should first contact your home insurance company and ask them if they cover this, if not you should proceed to your welfare officer as the welfare officer is bound to ask you the same question.
