One of the guys who plays on our football team broke his leg recently and will be unable to work (ie unavailable for work) for quite a while, probably at least 6 months.
He is on Jobseekers (the non-means tested one), which will run out before 6 month is up.

Can he get some kind of illness benefit? should he inform sw that he is not available for work? or any other suggestions welcomed.

if he can't work he should claim illness benefit as he is unavailable for work while he is incapacitated.they look at contributions from 2009.
