Recovering deleted photo from memory card

    Hi all

I uploaded my photos to the laptop and then deleted the photos from the memory card. I never backed up (I know, I know :o) and the next day my laptop crashed.

A camera shop quoted me €20 to recover the photos and put them on a disc. Just wondering if anyone would know of anywhere cheaper in Dublin to get it done? The memory card hasn't been touched since so hopefully there shouldn't be any problems.

I know you can dowload some programmes and do it yourself, but from searching some threads on here, I've seen that some photos come back corrupt / in strange formats so would prefer someone who knows what they're doing to look after it for me.

    Thanks in advance

there are tools to do it, but €20 is cheap for someone to do it for you.

try downloading recuva and see if it can save the photo for you - but leave the card untouched till someone can verify my advice!

The first rule of data recovery (and brain surgery) is don't do any
damage. If the card has a write-protect/lock switch, lock it before
    you start.

The last time I wanted to recover deleted photos, I used PhotoRec.

It did the job for me. As you haven't used the card since, you
have a fairly good chance of success.

    Good Luck.
