    Hi all,

I may be looking at getting into airsoft and I am just wondering what I will need to get started? I would prefer to get a handgun to start off with, is there any pistols in particular that would suit beginners? My budget would be small enough, so i will not be able to spend over 70 euro i would say. Is it better to get a gas or co2 or electric pistol etc to start off with?

If you plan on skirmishing - get an AEG, not a pistol - it'll only end up with you getting frustrated and outgunned.

what ever you do, do not skimp on eye protection and footware.

The downside of getting a pistol first is that you would need alot of mags to last a game without having to go and reload your empty mags.
That would result in you getting frustrated as you'd be unable to get into the flow of the game and would spend most of your time filling your mags while others are playing.

    For example
1 pistol magazine could hold say 20 bbs
1 AEG magazine mid cap could hold 150 bbs *you can get hi cap mags which can hold 400 bbs depending on the AEG*

So for that you to have 7 - 8 pistol mags to match one mid cap AEG magazine.

So the cost of one Pistol would skyrocket past the AEG fairly quickly if you were getting those mags and loading all those would be a pain unless your really good at it.

Now unless your a crack shot with a pistol, you'd be going through those magazines fairly quickly to get some hits, and even as a crack shot you'd still work through them quickly enough.

Now I know a pistol sounds logical for if you want to just dip your feet in and get a feel for the game without spending much but you'd almost be better then to get a loan of a AEG or rent one for a few matches cuz it'll be less stressful and you'll get to have fun without having to spend ages reloading.

    So from myself.
Good footware *if your running around and especially if playing outdoors, unless you like blisters and wet feet*
    Eye protection is a must.
Get a AEG before you get a pistol for logical reasons.

What I did was I got a piece of airsoft gear once a month. I focused on the basics first and worked from there.
