iPhone 4 freezes when updating

I seem to be having a serious problem with itunes/iphone freezing every time I attempt to update. It gets to about 10-15% and then just stops.

On the phone itself, it shows the apple logo and the status bar but the status bar has 0% showing.

It seems to update fine on another computer.

itunes is up to date, USB drive is functional, etc.

be careful unplugging when the apple and bar underneath are on screen, the baseband gets updated at that time and can fcuk up the phone

have you tried reinstalling itunes or else downloading the IPSW and install that way

Tried all that. Basically the only thing I can do it unplug it when this happens and restore via my work computer.

Otherwise it'd just sit there on that screen stuck "updating" indefinitely.

thats strange, not sure what you could do tbh
usually if something was wrong itunes would give an error report, is itunes still responding when it happens

I've used it before and I'll use it again:

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

    :D

Yeah, that's the really weird thing tbh. I've tried EVERYTHING.
I'm not really computer illiterate either (though no pro) and I'm at my wits end which is why I'm posting here.

When I eventually have to disconnect it (I've left it 24 hours before and no joy past 10%ish) it throws up error 14, but the fixes for that are really no use to this problem.

Interestingly, also, when I try to restore on my main PC it also freezes at the same point... load it up on my laptop and it works 80% of the time. If it does fail there, I simply try again and it always works the second time.

I guess in the future I'll just only update on my laptop and it's fine... but the fact that I don't know what's wrong on the home PC is bugging the hell out of me.

don't think it would matter in this case but your hosts file hasn't being edited has it, make sure there is no line with apple in it

This exact problem happens with my bosses' iPhone/Laptop. It started with 4.3.3 and it happened again with 4.3.5. He didn't do the 4.3.4 update. The only way we can get it to update now is via my PC. It's a weird weird problem!

Can you open device manager by right clicking my computer and clicking properties

then go to usb controllers and with the iphone plugged in right click on it and click uninstall.Restart pc, plug in iphone and open itunes and test update again
