ENABLING Windows 7 Account Pictures

A while back, I turned off my user account picture on my Win7 logon screen.

Can't remember how I went about this (though it would have been in security policies but doesn't look like it).

Anyone have any idea how I can turn this back on? :o

    Thanks in advance.

If you are using Business, Ultimate or Enterprise, then you can change this
    via Group Policy:

Type gpedit.msc into the Start/Search box and press enter. Navigate to
Computer Configuration, expand to Administrative Templates, Control Panel,
User Accounts. In the right-hand pane, you should see the policy "Apply
the default user logon picture to all users".

    Explanation of this policy:
This policy setting allows an administrator to standardize the logon
pictures for all users on a system to the default user picture. One
application for this policy setting is to standardize the logon pictures to
    a company logo.

Note: The default user picture is stored at %PROGRAMDATA%\Microsoft\User
Account Pictures\user.bmp. The default guest picture is stored at
%PROGRAMDATA%\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\guest.bmp. If the default
pictures do not exist, an empty frame is displayed.

If you enable this policy setting, the default user logon picture will
display for all users on the system with no customization allowed.

If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, users will be able
    to customize their logon pictures.

You can enable the policy, and remove the default user.bmp.

How does your Start Menu look right now? Did you just use a blank .bmp or something?

Note: thats a fluke above, from trying to use Snippng Tool and switch back to start menu really quickly, my start menu actually looks like:

It's not the start menu, it's the logon screen. User picture is in Start Menu as normal.

Also, I've tried changing the default picture across all users, but this doesn't appear, I've somehow disabled the picture completely, so until that setting is reversed nothing will show up.

Basically, my logon screen has the username and password fields as normal, but above them, the frame is there, but it is empty.

    Like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/ed/Win7logon.png

You just see through the frame to the background.

I remember doing it intentionally a few months back, but for the life of me I can't remember how...

Ah lads, give me some credit - I can do a simple user account picture change, the problem was I had no picture as it had been disabled.

Regardless, the problem is now solved. Was a registry edit that I've no reversed.

    All the best.

You left out a bit of key information in your OP. Dont mess with your registry if you dont know how to undo it!

I pointed out in my first post that I had disabled my picture. And I'll do what I like with my registry thank you very much - it's not rocket science, and I'm sure I'm not the first person to forget what process they followed to perform some task way back when...
