Got one of these a while back and I have to say, I'm a complete convert. Admittedly they're not cheap but they take all the hassle out of making espresso at home.

Ok so the real coffee perfectionists could argue that with a lot of tweaking and precise measurements of the bean, the fineness of the grind, the pressure in the espresso maker, the tamping pressure etc you would get a slightly nicer cup of coffee but if you're like me and you just like a decent cup with minimal fuss then I would recommend checking out the DeLonghi

Good to hear it's working out for you. Where are you getting your beans?

I get them from hasbean.co.uk. I used to buy green and roast but I never quite managed to master the art of roasting so I just order pre roasted now.

I also got a Delonghi Perfecta (EASM5400) and I'm very happy with it. Although I'm not upgrading exactly from a great setup, I had a delonghi ECS330 and a scala burr grinder, I am much happier with the coffee form the perfecta. It is very consistent, a lot easier to prepare and much less mess, which is pleasing the wife a lot.

A pro manual machine may make slight better coffee, but this makes very good coffee all the time with almost no hassle.
