I have a Trek Road bike With a Speed Trap Sensor in the Fork and would like to get a wireless bike computor, does it have to be a Trek bike computor to work with the speed trap sensor?

Could I just get any wireless bike computor as I am not overly concerned about aerodynamics at this stage.

    Thanks.

According to trek it's ANT+, so any computer that supports it will work. If you're looking for cheapest, it's probably Bontrager (Trek's brand) Node 1, though the Garmin range of computers/gps will work with it too. Good excuse to get an Edge 500...

If you get an Edge 500 - you won't need the fork sensor as it uses GPS for speed/distance

Are you sure you actually have the speed trap sensor? :)

The forks come with a black plastic plug where a speed trap sensor fits, but none of the treks come with a speed trap sensor as standard.

Strictly speaking you don't need an ANT+ speed sensor for a Garmin, but it gives a much more accurate reading.

Still handy to have if you're out of satellite coverage (which happens occasionally in valleys etc)
